March 2025: Tudor discovered a way to incorporate the assignment theory into neural networks. The resulting algorithm was among the top performers on a dental cast parcellation competition and is now published in IEEE JBHI.
February 2025: We have conducted a large-scale study on the benefits of AI-assisted second opinions for ulcerative colitis diagnosis. Our research involved 700 patients and 22 physicians, and the findings have now been published in The American Journal of Gastroenterology.
January 2025: I have been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant! Six new PhDs and postdocs will be hired in connection with this grant to work on the use of AI for cancer treatment planning of treatment side effect prediction.
December 2024: Anna’s paper on the prediction of radiologists’ errors from eye movements over medical images has been accepted to Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.
September 2024: We have conducted a public competition on head-and-neck CT and MR image analysis, with the results published in Radiotherapy and Oncology (green journal). We thank Novo Nordisk for supporting this initiative!
February 2024: With Claudia Mello-Thoms, we published a review paper in IEEE JBHI on a rapidly growing topic of AI-assisted eye-tracking in medicine.
October 2023: We have one paper accepted to EMNLP, congratulations to Danis Alukaev!
September 2023: I contributed a chapter on the prediction of radiotherapy outcome to the book “Artificial Intelligence in Radiation Oncology and Biomedical Physics”, edited by Gilmer Valdes and Lei Xing.
September 2023: Our application on optimal target placement for needle insertion during kidney percutaneous access has been granted a US patent.
May 2023: We have two papers (1, 2) accepted to the MICCAI 2023 conference.
May 2023: Our application for a novel robotic approach to kidney percutaneous access has been granted a US patent.
April 2023: We have one paper accepted to ICML, congratulations to Bjørn Leth Møller!
March 2023: With colleagues from the University of Ljubljana, we created and released a public database with head-and-neck organ segmentation from CT and MR images.
January 2023: Mr. Bjoern Leth Moeller has joined our research team. He will be working on image-guided inflammatory bowel disease treatment.
November 2022: Ms. Anna Anikina has joined our research team. She will be working on the eye tracking of radiologists.
March 2022: Mr. Tudor-Laurentiu Dascalu has joined our research team. He will be working on the use of AI for dental treatment planning.
May 2021: My Data+ grant on the use of AI for dental treatment planning has been accepted. The work will be done in collaboration with Professor Lars Bjørndal from the Department of Dentistry, University of Copenhagen
May 2021: My grant on the use of human-AI interaction for lung X-ray analysis has been accepted. The work will be conducted at Innopolis University.
May 2021: Ms. Sepideh Amiri has joined our research team. She will be working on the use of AI for pancreatic cancer treatment planning.
October 2020: My Novo Nordisk Investigator grant was awarded! Four PhD students will be hired in the next two years to work on machine learning for pancreatic cancer treatment
